About
After gaining a BA (Hons.) degree in Film Studies at the University of Kent, Simon Olivier began his career in film dodging black cabs as he jostled a trolley full of 'Star Wars: The Phantom Menace' film cans through the streets of London's Soho for their TK rushes on a daily basis.
He then moved from post production to set, as a Clapper-Loader on many music video, commercial and film shoots, before he began directing music videos for local Brighton bands (starting with the band he was in - the widely-unheard-of Peanut Albinos) and a test documentary in New Orleans, which lead to him directing a one-hour documentary - 'Eva Cassidy: Timeless Voice' - about the singer's posthumous rise to fame, for Sky Arts.
Soon after, Simon directed two short films from his own scripts, the multi-award-winning 'Feminine Incite' and 'Burned'. At the same time, Simon was developing a British-Asian coming-of-age feature with director Andy Morahan. The resulting film, 'Boogie Man', for which Simon wrote the screenplay, was produced in 2018 and has won over 50 awards worldwide.
Simon now has several feature projects in development, including the comedy-drama ‘Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?’, thriller 'Badge Of Silence', western 'Turn The River Red' and drama 'Carry Me Not', as well as a TV series, the L.A. crime drama 'Gunsuit Beautiful'. He is represented by Ian Taylor at Red Door Vision.
